Six-Shooter

Finally, a western RP. Always wanted one on BattleOn, but rules wouldn't let me do it. This RP is a western, not Red Dead Redemption, or Red Dead Revolver, or GUN for that matter. It isn't True Grit, and it is not Deadwood. This, this RP, this is a western RP.

Setting

This RP is of course historical, however it is historical fiction. The RP takes place in an old-west styled setting, which we'll assume is "somewhere in American west during the later 1800's". So you all know the way the towns look, the way the people are, what everyone has and what's invented. Telegraphs, railroads, you know what the wild west is. However, I am providing a set of regions and important locations for you to use on your travels.

NOTE: More regions and locations will be added later.



The County of Flatplain - Open expanses or sand, catus, and small grasses, Flatplain is the central county in the entire region. It is home to Aransohn, the first town built in the region as well. Flatplain is also home to notorious bandits and outlaws, who reside in the Badlands. Aransohn uses Jenning's Ranch as a main resource for the upkeep of civilization - food and supplies. Matchwood Farm also exists in the region, being a small town and farm at once.

Aransohn - Aransohn, founded by Lee Aransohn, is the most popular settlement around. It houses the usual stores and usual populace. The people are good people, and will take in those who are noble, however shun those who are bad. It is fairly well protected, by the Marshals and the Vigilantes as well. It is the most visited location by travelers. It relies on Matchwood Farm and Janning's Ranch for sources of survival.
General Goods - Owned by Mackie.
Marshal's Office - Marshal John's, officer's, and vigilante's headquarters.
Stables - Simple Stable built for temporary horse hitching.
Aransohn Saloon - Owned by Francis.
Drugstore - Owned by Dr. Whitaker
Aransohn Bank - Owned by the County Officials.
Various Houses - Owned by residents of Aransohn.

Jenning's Ranch - The last ranch in Flatplain, and probably will. Mr. Jenning's died, so Mr. Conwall currently owns the ranch. He hires full-time and part-time ranchhands who help herd cattle, break horses, and farm the land. The Ranch is known for supplying transportation, simple foods, and more to the town of Aransohn.
Jenning's House - Owned by Mr. Conwall
Horse Barn - Stable for storing broken horses.
Barn - Stable for other animals.
Chicken Coops - Chicken housing and coops.
Corral - Large open area surrounded by fencing for the horses.
Cow Corral - Large Open area surrounded by fencing for the cows.
Abandoned Buildings - Use-to-be homes, now used for nothing but storage.

Matchwood Farm - Of the good farmland, Mr. Matchwood owns much of it, and thus comes Matchwood Farms. Having such a huge farmland, and so much work needing to be done, Mr. Matchwood's 'estate' hires and employs all kinds of workers. Due to this, several houses have been allowed to be constructed on the property, as have simple buildings. They also supply the more finer foods for Aransohn.
Matchwood House - Home of Mr. Matchwood.
Compartments - Small, single-bed rooms all built onto each other - for workers.
Various Houses - Owned by Matchwood Civilians.
Storage Buildings - Storage for foods and more.

The Badlands - Originally named for the amount of coyotes and other carnivores lurking the land, the Badlands soon became a 'hotspot' where many of the local outlaw gangs and legends resided. Going into it likely to either gain you numerous allies, or numerous enemies, maybe numerous bullet holes. Their are canyons and rocky formations all over, and the gangs generally travel and alternate between hideouts, and often raid unsuspecting travelers. The Badlands is on the western edge of Flatplain.

Plot

Six-Shooter is a western game that puts the players in characters who try to achieve their own goals. There is no plot, only mini-plots scattered about the western world. Players can do whatever they want - to an extent, I have some guidelines laid down which should keep things steady - you know, consistent.

Traveling - When traveling, you can go from ONE settlement (Matchwood --> Jenning's) to the other in one post, or you can stay in your current location and interact there. You may also go to random spots, such as 'Flatplain Landscape', or 'Outskirts of Geronimo'. You MAY NOT go from one place to another, and then another. You MAY NOT go from one place to another, then interact there in one post. It is also assumed everyone has a mount (horse, or drawn carriage).

Time - I will post often, and when I post I will tell the current time of the day in the RP world. It will be simple, 'Morning', 'Day', 'Midnight'. Nothing complex, just something to help keep the posts consistent, so it ain't morning one moment and night the next. The RP'ers cannot change the time of day, unless of a flashback.

Interactions - Controlling what general NPC's say (store owners, bartenders, custom friend NPC's) is allowed. However, some of the interactions I will control, such as either or not enforcement heeds to a decision, or whether someone gives you treasures beyond your wildest dreams.

Equipment - It is assumed everyone owns a mount, and a gun for protection. Guns can be custom, but realistic. It is assumed the only guns are simple rifles and pistols. It is also rule of thumb that the faster a weapon is, the less accurate; the slower a weapon is, it is stronger; rifles are also assumed stronger than a pistol, however more slower and generally made for long range. Scopes are optional, and affects your character's movement. Shotguns are like rifles, but weaker in range than a pistol or rifle - however stronger up close.

Combat - Your character must be fit to use his/her weapon. The more realistic you play, the better your chances to win; however the less realistic - you'll lose. PvP, in this case, decides the winner on who can beat the other's strategy. Gang Fights - are another thing.

Gangs and Posses - If you manage to get you a gang up (convincing outlaw behavior) or manage to scrape up a posse (convincing noble behavior), you're given the opportunity to create your own Gang Hideout (Gangs) - or build your own Headquarters (Posses) and further carry out operations.

Characters

Characters may be the player's choice, however I would hope you keep it simple. For example being mayor isn't as fun as you think; being a whore isn't to inviting. An outlaw, a marshal, an adventurer, and indian, those are the things that I foresee. Here is a simple, alterable, bio format.

Physical Appearance: He's a big fella, about 6'7" and weighing about 300 pounds. It's all in the build, though. He has a decent muscle mass and usually compensates with his guns.
General Occupation: He finds work in Jenning's as a ranch hand

Outfitting: Dusty leather blazer and beige trousers. He wears a smaller hat than the average stereotypical cowboy hat, however has fairly typical boots; spurs and all.
Primary Firearm: His homemade shotgun
Secondary Firearm: His first shotgun, bought from a shop with stolen money and sawed off
Melee Weapon (Knife, etc): Brass knuckles
Mount Description: Smaller, light-colored, shaggy horse. His name is Dusty.

History: James is infamous for his murders and robberies in several different towns. He fled to Aransohn to start with a new slate. He keeps a low profile, but fears that the authority of the towns he fled will catch up with him.

Just so you know, I think Geronimo was still alive in the 1800's...) (June 16, 1829 – February 17, 1909) So he would not be that much of a legend...I'll finish this when I get home from school.

Alias: Black haired Beck

Facial Appearance: Rebecca has a smooth face, that is round, and comes down into a point. Her skin is tanned, and her face is often smudged with soot or dirt. Her piercing blue eyes contrast with the rough skin on her face, and they are always moving about. She has a small, slightly pointed noise, and small ears with attached earlobes. Her black hair is pulled into a bun, with strands coming down around her ears and forehead. She has a small scar on her right laugh line, from a childhood accident. Rebecca's eyebrows are thin and defined, and her lips are small, and always slightly pursed.

Physical Appearance: Rebecca is 5' 4" and 115 pounds. Her body is toned, and she is in good physical condition, able to run 3 miles without slowing down. Her hands show that she has worked almost every day of her life, as they are callused, hard, and powerful. Her nails are comped down to almost nothing. Rebecca's legs are very long, and her feet are of the average size.

General Occupation: Rebecca is a hustler, a barmaid, a thief or a ranch worker. What ever allows her to make the most money in the town she is in.

Outfitting: Rebecca wears beat up black riding boots, with rusty spurs at the heels. Her pants are gray, and are tight, so they tuck finely into her boots, and make it easier for her to run, and ride. She wears a simple white (though more gray, as time gets to it) long sleeved button down top, with the sleeves rolled to her elbows. She has a cap to keep the sun from beating down on her face as well.

Primary Firearm: Rebecca has a small pistol, which she keeps on her hip, next to her money. It is a simple, almost forgettable thing. Nothing is very special about it.
Secondary Firearm: Rebecca has a rifle, and again, the only special thing about it is, it is unreliable, and will not always fire.
Melee Weapon (Knife, etc): Rebecca has a small dagger, which she keeps tucked in the back of her pants.

Mount Description: Rebecca has a poorly fed brown horse, of unknown decent. The thing is as stupid as the day is long, and Rebecca often has to hit it, kick it, bitch slap it, or beat it with the butt of her gun to get it to do anything. The horse is male, and it's name is "Dumb Brown Bitch."

Alignment (Noble; Neutral; Unknown; Outlaw): Money Hungry

History: Rebecca lived in a simple town, and moved away when she turned 16 (she is 22 now). Unable to find any honest work, she began to

I've appeared! (Finally my load elsewhere has lightened with the end of an Epic SSBB RP I was running... Mario was the dead one most of the time...) So I give you... him:

Name: Edward Vamilac
Alias: The Fallen's Wrath
Gender: Male
Facial Appearance: Scarred skin and almost devil-like brwon eyes make up this far from attractive man's main features. This is framed by long jet-black hair. The longer strands may not be able to decide which side of his shoulder to be on, but there's always a look of anger when he appears.
Physical Appearance: He's not well built, but very few have actually seen his full body as he hides it behind leather clothing. Silk underclothes prevent the leather from touching his skin, and a long leather cloak hangs around his neck. It's wide enough so that he can hide all but his head and feet from veiw, and there's a metal collar that reaches upwards just past his mouth.
General Occupation: Mercenary - Hired to avenge people who've died. he leave a calling card of a supernatural wraith picture hand-carved into a small square of wood with the words: Revenge for the fallen from their wrath.

Outfitting:
Primary Firearm: A simple revolver. He doesn't care what make it is, he doesn't even know. He just knows that it does it's job when he wants it to. Uses .45mm rounds.
Secondary Firearm: Throwing Knives. They're not a firearm, but when his revolver is too loud for the job, the target might get one or moreof these stuck into their body. He's not that precise, hence the possible multiple thrown, but he forges and tests them himself.
Melee Weapon (Knife, etc): A Rapier. Stolen from a wealthy man who refused to pay him, he, like the revolver, only keeps it because it does it's job, it kills.
Mount Description: N/A

Alignment: Unknown
History: No-one seems to know where he came from, or really who he is. But he appeared in Geronimo unexpectedly and has eveaded capture enough times that some have thought him a ghost. If he does appear in taverns or saloons, it's eithe because his target is there, or because he needs to calm down. He's known to be a demon poker player. Some have been wary of him due to his odd accent and way of speech.

Just a note Ghost: You've stated that the ranch-hands are "always in the modd to play games." Just thought I'd point that little derp out to ya.

Facial Appearance: William has green eyes, and a slightly rounded nose. His eyes always seem to to be half-closed. What can be seen of them are very analytic. He has a thin beard, something between shaved and full. His jaw is most often set, and slightly pointed.
Physical Appearance: William has tanned skin from being in the sun all day. He is slightly tall, standing at 6'2. His build is full from muscles, not fat. His hands are calloused.

Outfitting: He wears a dark brown coat, that reaches down to his ankles. He wears a tan shirt and pants, pants being held up, coat in, by a dark brown leather belt. He wears brown leather boots with (slightly rusted) spurs.
Primary Firearm: A trusty iron six-shot revolver.
Secondary Firearm: A slim shotgun, store-bought.
Melee Weapon (Knife, etc): A steel knife, made for cutting through flesh.
Mount Description: A young, dark brown mare by the name of Rusty.

Alignment (Noble; Neutral; Unknown; Outlaw): Neutral
History: Born to a simple farming family, William had an uneventful childhood, working on his parents' farm. When they died of ilness, he ran the farm for a short time, before selling it. He used the money to persue a career as a bounty hunter. He used it to buy a nice home, as well as fine clothes. Recently, the wanted posters have been getting torn down, and he's about ready to find this person doing it.

I know it's fairly short, but I couldn't do too much with it atm.

So...you should probably change the name of the town, Ghost, because Historically, it isn't exactly correct, since even in his lifetimes, Geronimo was not super famous.

Hey Ghost, since this is your thread, I imagine that you'll have the best chance of seeing this. The "Rules suggestion" thread only allows administrators to post in it. That makes a little less than no sense. ^_^

Also, while I'm asking you things, I was wondering if you had any limit on how many RPs one can run. You say we can be in as many as we want, but how many we run was never specified. My current RP can't be started for a while, not until we have way more members in this forum, and I was thinking about making another one.

Name: Jack Rivers
Alias: Dead Shot
Gender: Male
Facial Appearance: His faced has two scars cut above his eyes, his hair hides one. Has short black hair, it reaches his ears, that is combed to the right. His eyes are average sized and cold, and his mouth is caught in a sly smile that rarely changes.
Physical Appearance: Standing at 6' 1" he isn't to small or tall, he's slightly stronger than the average person with his muscles slightly developed. His body has a few scars that he hides easily except for one on his face, his legs are also strong from experience with running.
General Occupation: Avoiding competent officials and taking what he needs from the fools who don't need it.

Outfitting: He wears a simple black jacket, showing cuts from previouus experiences. Underneath that, a worn out plain white shirt. He wears black trousers covered in dust that could never be washed off, and brown boots.
Primary Firearm: A revolver with a 5 inch barrel, customized so that it has an adjustable iron sight on it.
Secondary Firearm: A sawed off shotgun to keep away crowds.
Melee Weapon: He uses very sharp knifes to throw them, slash with them, or stab with them at enemies.
Mount Description: A strong black faithful horse he calls midnight, faster than other horses you would find in most ranches. Trained to come to his owner, or run away, with different tunes, each made up of three notes.

Alignment: Outlaw
History: Jack was raised on a farm and learned how to hunt early on, prefering the use of revolvers. He took to a life of crime, though he tries to be reasonable with his actions. Had gotten into many fights with lawmen so he had a few scars, his clothes got cuts in the fights and his pants were forever stained with dust. He started to train so he could overpower them or if the threat was to great, run away. He became quite accurate with his revolver and was called "Deadshot" by his companions, maybe because most of his targets died before they could hit the ground. He ran away whenever the locals became suspicious and started anew in Aransohn, know known for playing poker and by his alias: "Dead Eye Jack."

Number of RP's is limitless, however its up to YOU to decide how much is to much, and to little.

I'm still spitballing ideas for another RP. I have bits and pieces, but I'm still not sure. I don't have any real ideas for plots or settings in particular yet.

If I make another RP, it will be a little heavier than most. I kind of want one about an underground Boston Drug scene, the cops trying to control it, and the people in the scene itself.

It would be more modern, and I would require tons of realism. 👽

I do my best thinking via meditation to music. Metal music gets the juices flowing best, and right now I'm listening to a Pandora station built around "Metal Messiah" by Judas Priest. Hopefully I'll have something up by tonight.
